This is the official Website of Brain Atkinson, the original bass player and founding member of the world famous Studio One Band, from Jamaica, called "The Soul Vendors". This band was also referred to by other names: "Sound Dimension" and "Soul Brothers". Brian Atkinson, (Bassie, as he is affectionately called by Sir Coxsone Dodd, owner of Jamaica Recording Studio, located on Brentford Road in Kingston, Jamaica), along with other band members, Joe Isaacs, Harry Haughton, Jackie Mittoo, Hux Brown, Roland Alphonso, Lynn Taitt, Headly Bennett, Lester Sterling, Lennox Brown, Sam Samuels and Ska Campbell, were responsible for crafting and originating the sound, now referred to as The Studio One sound. We are now in the process of creating our online shopping mall, which will offer souvenirs, momentos, musical products and other merchandise from the SKA and ROCKSTEADY era in Jamaica. Our eCommerce store is still in development.
